CADIA INTEGRATED SINKS

Integrated Ceramic Vanity Top or Separate Basin and Countertop?

Compare cabinet drawings, interfaces and installation responsibilities for two valid constructions.

The two constructions divide design and installation work differently. An integrated ceramic top, such as E61, combines the basin and visible top in one ceramic component. A separate basin and countertop are specified as two components with an interface between them. Neither construction removes the need to check the cabinet, plumbing and installation method.

Compare the drawings the cabinet factory needs

For an integrated top, work from the supplier's overall size, bowl drop, waste and tap-hole drawing. The cabinet opening and support must suit that exact piece. For a separate construction, the cabinet team needs the countertop material and cut-out instructions as well as the basin's fixing and sealing detail. The interface is a separate decision that should be assigned to a responsible party.

Consider design flexibility

A separate basin can suit a project that already specifies a particular countertop material or requires a different basin position from the available integrated models. An integrated top can simplify the visible component schedule when a catalogue model fits the cabinet and desired layout. Compare actual available sizes and bowl positions rather than assuming either system will fit every room.

Agree the site sequence

Identify who supplies, measures and installs each component, who seals the basin-to-top or top-to-wall junctions, and when plumbing is tested. For a long double-bowl integrated top such as E121 Double, check both waste positions with the cabinet. For a separate assembly, confirm the countertop opening from the basin manufacturer's current instructions before cutting.
